Institute for preservation of monuments of culture, Museum and gallery Bitola in cooperation with Cathedra of Archeology at Philosophy Faculty of Skopje and Association of Macedonian-Italian friendship and cooperation - Bitola, organize International science meeting dedicated to the most famous road of the Classic epoch Via Egnatia.
The road, on which many fateful moments were solved, the road which connects the fate of many nations for centuries and which played a great role in their history, draw a great attention of the science public for so long.
The mixing of the cultures intensified by the construction of Via Egnatia, the military support and army maneuver performed on this corridor, the trade caravans and the flow of new experiences and ideas, turn this classic road into the phoenix which ablaze in front of us with all its inspiration thus putting us to face the challenge regarding its exploration.
This idea is connected to the repeated relevance of the roads in the contemporary Europe, the relevance of multymodal transeuropean corridors which yeald inside the potential of close interhuman connection, regarding the exchange of the experience and territorial planning of the entire regions. The aim of this multidisciplinary science meeting is to connect the infrastructure European endeavor on the Balkans region from the past till the nowadays.
The organizers intention of this first meeting is to point the foreseen projects for real endeavors regarding the protection of the artifacts of the road as well as valorization not only of the cultural heritage but in wider aspect the preservation of territories and regions.
The meeting will take place in the first decade of the month of June 2004 in Hotel Molika in picturesque landscape of Pelister Mountain Bitola. The accommodation fee is
